Discussing or airing your thoughts and feeling over something that might be trivial in your life can gather attention from your friends and families; even strangers. However, know that you are entitled to your own views as well as they are with theirs.

While it is easier to keep silent about your opinions and views, it can also be damaging your self-esteem. For one, you need to have confidence in your views and decisions but to be able to stand on it and believe takes weighing of things from different angles.

Views and opinions will lead you to believe something and eventually, it will how you react and stick to it. Once this is done, you are doing your own decision. Of course, it is nothing without opposing sides or others trying to influence you but think that not everyone that would try to influence you is really looking for your own good, that is why you need to assert your decision so you won't be easily manipulated.

Here are some effective ways to lessen the influence of others when it comes to your decision making.

1. Examine Truly How You Feel

Take time to reflect on important issues or concern. Humans are natural pleasers that is why they pay attention to other's teachings, words, advice, and etc. With the presence of social media, it could be a lot for you to hear your own voice for particular matters. You are hearing different opinions from different people. When these factors affect how you decide things, beware because you are so vulnerable to manipulations.

The thing is, it is quite difficult to stand on what you want when in a real sense, you do not know what you really want. Improving your relationship with yourself is best. Doing assessment and reflections regarding your goals helps a lot and you'll see you will start living with your own, keeping those things you find valuable.

2. Write Down Your Thoughts

A lot of times we find stuck on how to react at something but we know there is something wrong and we don't agree on it. This is because, at some time, you forget to assess matters and examine closely why things behave as they are. Writing down things during natural days rejuvenates yourself to explore something had it happen to you before it will actually do.

It allows you to be in a position that you aren't yet just for the meditation process. There be considerations and solutions you can tailor yourself beforehand without losing the real you. This way you will not be at lost when hearing voices of the crowds and always in tune on your own person.

3. Don't Be Guilty To Say No

Every day we are dealing with issues that has a different difficulty level. From normal to important ones, it is in saying 'no' you are giving others control over your life.

In a particular situation where saying no could make you feel guilty or sad, decisions are highly trivial matters. But quit thinking saying no to others is becoming rude or selfish. It is rather more being aware of what is your priority and what you protect the most.

4. Don't Justify Nor Give Excuse

Justification and giving in to excuse is a display of self-doubt. No one in this world will ever surpass or excel in something if they keep other people getting in with their decision.

You must understand that everyone is protecting their own interest. We do not say their interest isn't legit, however, yours isn't invalid as well. Disagreement is not really so important for as long as there is respect. However, the conflicting interest of some parties involved in this life, or this world makes it more controversial especially if it is matters of life and death.

5. Choose Your Crowd

Not everyone is a good influence. It takes good friends, good company, good people to get good words. Do not expect you to get some good piece of advice to those who less practice goodness. Values and beliefs are always conflicting but if you are with people in harmony with your values you will save energies expressing your alternative views and pressures are lesser.

6. Know The TRUTH

Don't settle decision without hearing both ends, both stories. Do not make decisions yet when you do not see things with your own eyes or had solid evidence. For people who love to live in truth, deciding on something will never be based on myth or gossip they heard from everywhere.

They will seek truth by conducting studies, calling for interviews and more. It is always normal that any person would try to change your views on a particular thing. We are all guilty for that, nevertheless, it is your responsibility to yourself to seek for truth. Don't feel bad if you want to assert your belief, however, when you discover discrepancy be humble enough to reconstruct decision and affirmed for what is the truth.

Bottom Line

Failing to assert your belief, your decision could be dangerous for it will end you living a life you weren't meant to. Therefore, stop allowing others to make a decision on your behalf otherwise accept consequences--good and bad that might involve with it. Learn to defend your stand and live a life that is right for you.
